Event: Jane Birkin sings Serge Gainsbourg
Location: Cadogan Hall, SW1
Actress and singer Jane Birkin is appearing at the Cadogan Hall for one night only on her world tour Jane Birkin sings Serge Gainsbourg via Japan.
Birkin, ’60s icon and muse of French musician Serge Gainsbourg with whom she sang the scandalous duet Je T’aime … Moi Non Plus, is performing from Gainsbourg’s repertoire amongst other songs.
She is supported by a group of musicians from Japan who she met and first played with in a concert she gave in Tokyo in the wake of the Japanese earthquake and tsunami in 2011. This tour was originally scheduled for 2012 but had to be postponed as Birkin was unwell.
The English actress, filmmaker and singer rose to fame in 1960s, and after a collaboration with Gainsbourg, with whom she had a relationship for many years, has lived in her adopted city of Paris ever since. Although she has continued to act and sing, in recent years she has been more involved with human rights work, particularly for democracy in Burma.
Jane Birkin sings Serge Gainsbourg is at the Cadogan Hall on 31 Jan 2013.
