BRITISH LIBRARY EXPLORES LATIN AMERICAN HISTORY

The
British Library is currently hosting an exhibition that tells the story of the
Latin American republics and their struggle for independence over the past two centuries.
Viva La Libertad! opened on 24th May and will run until 20th August.
It is based in the Folio Society gallery at the British Library. People planning to see the exhibition can first check in to their room at the
Claridge's hotel in Mayfair and have
afternoon tea in London.
Visitors will be able to learn more about the various political events and revolutions that led to independence for Latin American nations, including the fight for emancipation from Spain and Portugal that began 200 years ago. Other topics explored in the exhibition include the political, economic and cultural links that were formed between Latin America and Great Britain.
The British Library is also hosting a display entitled
Magnificent Maps, which features around 80 maps from around the world that date back as far as 200 AD.
