Event: Giorgio Morandi at the Estorick Collection
Location: Estorick Collection of Modern Italian Art, N1
To celebrate the Estorick Collection of Modern Italian Art’s 15th anniversary the gallery is holding an exhibition on the career of one of its most popular artists – Giorgio Morandi: Works on Paper.
The exhibition celebrates the 20th century Bologna artist’s career with a selection of 80 prints, paintings and drawings, including a number of his etchings, but also some of his watercolours which are rarely exhibited in Britain.
Accompanying the exhibition are a series of reworked 1980s Polaroid shots of Morandi’s beloved Grizzana landscape by fellow Bologna artist Nino Migliori.
The Estorick Collection is housed in a Grade II listed Georgian house in Islington, north London, housing the art collection of Eric and Salome Estorick, which specialises in Futurist Italian works, as well as figurative art and sculpture from 1890 to the 1950s.
Giorgio Morandi: Works on Paper runs from 16 Jan – 7 Apr 2013.
