It was good while it lasted.

Voted the World's Best Bar 2016, New York's celebrated Irish drinking tavern The Dead Rabbit rolled its unruly wagons into Claridge's Bar for an exclusive week-long takeover between August 15-22. The multi award-winning 19th-century-style bar was recreated, complete with ragtime piano playing and authentic New York-style service – bringing Manhattan to the heart of Mayfair.

    The name

The brainchild of Irishmen Sean Muldoon and Jack McGarry, The Dead Rabbit is named after a notorious Irish street gang that patrolled Lower Manhattan during the 1850s. The story of leader and prize fighter John Morissey is told through the bar's graphic comic-style cocktail menu, which was also replicated for the Claridge's pop-up.

    The place

A place of pilgrimage for cocktail-lovers, The Dead Rabbit occupies a landmark three-storey building in Lower Manhattan, dating back to 1828. The Claridge’s pop-up recreated the bar's second-floor ‘Parlor’, serving an edited choice of its signature cocktails and specialities from its hearty food menu.

    The respect

Named World's Best Bar twice, The Dead Rabbit has won so many awards, it's had to move some of its whiskey bottles to make room on the shelf. Then add some more shelves.
