Event: London Mime Festival 2013
Location: Various venues
The London International Mime Festival slips silently into town in January, showcasing world-class theatre companies, extraordinary visual stunts and inventive physical theatre in some of the capital’s top arts theatres.
The festival runs across several venues, such as the Royal Opera House’s Linbury Studio Theatre, the South Bank Centre and the Barbican. This year the line up will include British aerial theatre group Ockham’s Razor, performing acrobatics at the Platform Theatre at the University of the Arts complex, Chinese puppeteer Yeung Fai, who tells the true story of a young boy’s escape from China to the West at the Barbican’s Pit Theatre, and Belgian dance company Les Ballets C de B performing The Old King, a bleak performance exploring what happens when things collapse and language fails.
The festival, now in its 37th year, runs for 18 days and has performers from 15 theatre companies from around the world, including France, Russia, Switzerland, Italy and China.
