Event: Marguerite & Armand starring Tamara Rojo & Sergei Polunin
Location: Royal Opera House, WC2
Tamara Rojo and Sergei Polunin are returning to the Royal Ballet for three farewell performances of Marguerite & Armand, part of a mixed programme of Frederick Ashton ballets in February.
Marguerite & Armand is a short piece set to Liszt’s piano sonata created for Margot Fonteyn and Rudolf Nureyev in 1963. Rojo and Polunin danced it to acclaim in 2011 and return as guest artists as part of the Royal Ballet’s Mixed Programme, which includes La Valse, Meditation from Thais, Voices of Spring and Monotones I and II.
It will be Rojo’s farewell performance at Covent Garden, where the Spanish dancer was prima ballerina for 12 years. Last year she took up the position of artistic director at the English National Ballet.
The Royal Ballet’s Mixed Programme runs for five evening performances between 12-23 Feb 2013 with Marguerite & Armand showing as part of the programme on 12, 15 & 21 Feb 2013.
