The Claridge's Summer Edit: From Manhattan to Mayfair

14 July 2025

Manhattan to Mayfair

Many New Yorkers may head to the Hamptons for summer, but one West Villager is temporarily taking up residence elsewhere. 2025 sees award-winning restaurant and aperitivo bar, Dante, swap Manhattan for Mayfair – and pop up for a highly anticipated season at Claridge’s Restaurant.

A marble table with sliders, green olives, crisps, nuts, cheese, and an array of colourful cocktails and aperitifs.

Its bright-lights-big-city style begins at brunch – think spiced huevos rancheros and pancake stacks – with sliders, shrimp cocktail and the classic New York strip with chimichurri amongst dinner’s signatures. Speaking of signatures, its cocktail menu is set to be the talk of a new town. When aperitivo hour strikes, the Dante Martini and reimagined Garibaldi, featuring its legendary ‘fluffy’ orange juice, are served. At the same time, the Chocolate Negroni Fountain begins to flow. There are many late-night bars in London. But only one Dante.

It’s a real pinch me moment to be in residence in Claridge’s, one of my favourite hotels in the world, and we can’t wait to welcome our London friends and family to raise a martini with us as Dante takes Claridge’s this summer.

Setting the bar

If The Foyer is the heart of the hotel, Claridge’s Bar is its spirit. Home to the world’s most rare and refined Prohibition whiskies, as well as an esteemed collection of vintage champagne, every drink here has its own tale to tell. This storied spot is the place to sit and savour David Collins Studio’s Deco design, as Mayfair’s elegant energy flows into the bar each evening. You can set your watch by the buzz, as people call in for cocktails ahead of pre-theatre dining plans. Old friends catch up over classic cocktails. Then celebrations pour out from Claridge’s Restaurant. At once timeless and in-the-moment, it welcomes hotel guests and Londoners alike.

A tale of two settings

For many, the most memorable evenings are the spontaneous ones. That began in the daytime with ricotta-topped banana bread for brunch at Dante, before tipping over into the afternoon – and to The Terrace at Claridge’s Restaurant and Claridge’s Bar. Here, spritzes and snacks are accompanied by the dappled sunlight, with Claridge’s Fried Chicken an ever-present menu favourite. After all, this is where alfresco fine dining in Mayfair enjoys a characterful twist – with an elegant energy from day to night.

If intimate (and indoors) is the brief, those in the know settle into The Snuggery at Claridge’s Bar. There’s a mellow hum about this chic spot in the summer, while its refined style is also perfectly suited to private cocktail parties.

Summer's social scene

Whether it’s pre-theatre dining or post-Proms celebrations, Claridge’s captures the essence of summer in London. Raise a glass of chilled rosé to alfresco season on The Terrace, be among the first to sample Chef Simon Attridge’s freshest debuts on the menu at Claridge’s Restaurant (including boat-fresh seafood towers and seasonally curated set lunches), and discover the spirit of downtown New York as Dante visits for the summer. Of course, when the capital really sizzles, there’s nothing quite like dropping in on a whim to Claridge’s Restaurant, where soft-serve ice cream brings a perfectly chilled dash of nostalgia to the table.

Book your table at Claridge’s Restaurant or for Dante – followed by cocktails at Claridge’s Bar, the Mayfair’s definitive summer pairing.
