Frequently Asked Questions

We are here to help you savour every moment of your afternoon tea experience with us. If you have any questions that we haven’t covered in our ‘frequently asked’ list below, please get in touch and we will be very happy to assist you.

1. Booking and vouchers

When should I book?

You can reserve a table for afternoon tea up to 90 days in advance. Weekends are particularly popular and quickly become fully booked, so please contact us as soon as possible if you have a specific date in mind.

Is there a waiting list?

Yes, and we would be happy to place you on the list. Please email our reservations team at dining@claridges.co.uk who can tell you more.

Can I buy gift vouchers?

Certainly – you can find out about and order gift vouchers here.

Do I need to bring my voucher with me on the day?

Our booking system means we do need to see the physical voucher when you arrive.

I’ve changed my mind – may I have my voucher refunded?

We can refund a voucher within 14 days of you buying it. Please email the reservations team at dining@claridges.co.uk for help with this.

I was given a voucher which I may not be able to use. Can I gift it to a friend?

Please do. Anyone may enjoy a Claridge’s afternoon tea gift, as long as they bring the voucher with them.

Can I book online with my voucher code?

We are able to take bookings online using gift vouchers. While making your afternoon tea reservation on our website, simply enter your unique voucher code in the ‘Special requests’ field when selecting the time and date you would like to join us, and we will take care of all the details. Please just be aware that we will still ask for card details and be sure to bring your voucher along on the day of your booking.

Why do I need to provide my card details for the booking?

We ask for card details to secure your booking in case of a late cancellation or no-show. Changes or cancellations made anytime up to 24 hours before your reservation will not be charged. Cancellations made within 24 hours of your reservation will be charged in full.

Can I use my afternoon tea voucher for lunch or dinner?

If you prefer to join us for lunch or dinner instead, you can use your Claridge’s afternoon tea voucher for this. Please contact our reservations team at dining@claridges.co.uk for more information.

Can I use my voucher at The Connaught since Claridge’s is fully booked?

Our vouchers are unique to Claridge’s but you can use them for lunch or dinner here instead of afternoon tea, if you prefer.

Can I make a reservation for more than eight guests?

To offer the best possible dining experience, the largest party we can seat for afternoon tea is eight and we cannot split parties across tables. However, our private dining area, to the rear of The Foyer, is perfect for between nine and 20 guests. You can reserve this space exclusively and choose from a £95 lunch or dinner menu – or join us for a delicious breakfast celebration.

Do you create afternoon tea to take away?

We do. Please email the reservations team at dining@claridges.co.uk for details.

We will be more than happy to help with this.

4. Special requests

What can you arrange for special occasions?

Or, to arrange for our in-house florist to create a special floral arrangement, talk to McQueens at mcqueens@claridges.co.uk.

Can I request a special song from the pianist?

Our pianist would love to play for you. Please ask the hostess to pass on your request on the day and, if the pianist knows the song, they will help you mark your special occasion.

It’s a special occasion, can I decorate my table?

All of our tables are decorated with beautiful seasonal flowers and arranged with Claridge’s signature jade china to set the perfect scene for an unforgettable afternoon tea experience. While we cannot accommodate additional decorations, balloons or banners in The Foyer & Reading Room, we can arrange a bespoke bouquet from our florist, McQueens, for an additional cost.
